Roman Reigns Kicks Off Monday Night Raw With Health Update

As you may or may not know, Joe Anoa’i AKA Roman Reigns announced back in October that he has been battling leukemia for the past 11 years and it unfortunately returned. He announced that he was going to have to take some time off from the WWE to concentrate on his health and family.  The WWE Universe was left in shock after learning of the SHIELD member’s health scare and then later shocked again when Dean Ambrose turned on fellow SHIELD member Seth Rollins just hours later.

At the time, Reigns was the current Universal Champion and had to also relinquish the title. This relinquishment resulted in Brock Lesnar regaining the title which has left a sour taste in the mouths of most WWE fans. We were told late last week that Reigns would be on Monday Night Raw tonight to give the WWE Universe an update on his health and battle with leukemia.

Tonight we kicked off Monday Night Raw on USA with a health update from Roman Reigns. The second his music started to play and he made his way down to the ring there was an overwhelming applause and chanting from the audience. He got into the ring and started his announcement by saying “thank you” to the audience and telling the WWE Universe that he has missed them.

He continued by telling the fans that before he made the announcement in October, he was scared and wasn’t sure that he wanted to tell the world about his diagnosis. He then says that the amount of support he has gotten from his fans has been overwhelming. He tells the fans that he could do anything with the strength and love they have sent to him. He added that if gave him strength and purpose far beyond winning matches and winning titles. He tells the WWE Universe that he plans on using this global platform to raise awareness for the people who are suffering like he WAS.

He then gets into the update. He said that when he made his announcement, he said he was going to swing for the fences and he did more than swing for the fences, he “hit a home run!” He then announces that he is in remission! The entire WWE Universe got on their feet and cheered. He said “with that being said, the Big Dog is back!” He said “thank you and I love you” to the fans one more time as he exited the ring.

Stay tuned for more information as it comes available as to when Roman will make it back into the ring!
