Troy Gentry, of Country Duo Montgomery Gentry, Tragically Killed
The country music world is shaken after losing one of their own yesterday afternoon. At around 1pm Friday afternoon, Troy Gentry, half of the country music duo Montgomery Gentry, was killed in a helicopter crash, he was 50 years old.
The crash took place in Medford, NJ just hours before he was set to take stage at the Flying W Airport & Resort. The crash is still under investigation but it has been confirmed that the pilot of the helicopter was also killed in the crash. According to reports, the pilot was experiencing mechanical issues with the helicopter in the moments leading to the crash.
Hours after the crash, the band took to their Facebook page to announce the tragic news.
It is with great sadness that we confirm that Troy Gentry, half of the popular country duo, Montgomery Gentry, was tragically killed in a helicopter crash which took place at approximately 1:00pm today in Medford, New Jersey. The duo was scheduled to perform tonight at the Flying W Airport & Resort in Medford. Troy Gentry was 50 years old.
Details of the crash are unknown.
Troy Gentry’s family wishes to acknowledge all of the kind thoughts and prayers, and asks for privacy at this time.

According to some reports, Gentry was believed to be taking part in a sight seeing tour on the helicopter when the crash occurred. Prayers to the friends and family of this incredibly talented man who was taken way too soon.
