Married at First Sight Season 5 Couple Announce Divorce
Less than a month after the Married at First Sight season 5 finale aired on Lifetime, one of the MAFS 2017 couples have announced they are divorcing. After just one year of marriage, Danielle DeGroot and Cody Knapek have announced via social media that they have decided to call it quits. Danielle took to Instagram with her statement that read:
It hasn’t been an easy year, but it has been one of a lot of personal growth and of meeting some amazing people, including the one I got to marry. We value and respect marriage, but life is short and we also value happiness. While this was a difficult decision and divorce is not something either of us hoped for, we decided we will be happiest separating. Still got nothin’ but love for @codyknapek ! Thank you to everyone who supported us on our journey! We hope you will be respectful and understanding of our decision. I went into #MAFS trusting that this was God’s or some greater power’s plan and I stand by that now. Still a big believer in love and looking forward to the future. 💜#marriedatfirstsight#mafs5#lovestory#trumanshow#groundhogday#GOODVIBESONLY
Cody’s Instagram account is private, however, he took to Twitter to thank the fans for rooting for them throughout their marriage.
Just wanted to say thank you to all of the #MarriedAtFirstSight fans that have shown us love and rooted for us along the way ❤️ pic.twitter.com/lVZ1vfG6ep

The other two couples from Married at First Sight season 5, Nate Duhon & Sheila Downs and Anthony D’Amico & Ashley Petta, who also chose to stay married on the MAFS 2017 finale, are still going strong. I wish Cody and Danielle nothing but the best.
